Born to loving parents in Persia/Iran, in 1998, at the age of seventeen, my mother and father longed for a new life for their son and immigrated to the United States. We, like so many others, sought promises of freedom and opportunity. Our travels brought us to Coralville, and I spent a childhood filled with curiosity, and a desire to take full advantage of the American dream. I graduated from Iowa City West High School and studied at the University of Iowa where I remained until 2004. It was there, and with the help of professors and academic counselors, that I began to learn of a profession
